Last year more than 4 million identity thefts occurred 89% of the offenders were illegal aliens. Just because your ss# is stolen does not nessicerily mean your Identity has been stolen,sometimes a stolen ss# can be used by many illegals at one time. A person with stolen ss# has to petition with the courts,Change both of your numbers, ss# and driver's license, then gaurd it with your life. Stolen ss# or id happens alot with children, as those victims are not apt to find out till they are old enough to work or apply for a loan. So there could be higher numbers than the census actually shows.

3. Throw them in the wash mashine.

4. Repeat as necessary.

I've actually had this happen. Ruined my credit by buying tons of stuff in Texas. Took me forever to convince my bank that no, I can't be in Texas and Massachusetts at the same time. I did what I would do with anyone, filed a complaint. However, the social security office told me that there was nothing I could do but watch my credit report, and I as unable to change my number. Ahh, what are you gonna do?

you would have to report this to the Social Security office and possible to INS. This could lead to serious problems, such as credit card charges and other catastrophic stuff. This is another form of identity theft and this could be deadly!

Call the police and file a report, call Social Security and file a report. While you may think it is no big deal, this illegal can use your social security number credit rating to buy a car, a house, run up a bunch of credit card debt and make a real mess for you financially. Do it tonight.

If he's working, you'll have a bigger social security check. Provided there's any Social Security left when you retire.

I'd get some ID protection and notify the Credit Bureau Reporting agencies.

the same thing you would do if you found out ANYONE was using your social security number. first talk to the police and find out what you need to do next. i suggest you also go to the dept in charge of immigration or social security and report this. who knows what someone could have done with your social security number. i have a friend who got her social security number stolen. she reported and fixed everything. 10+ years later, she's still paying the consequences. you have to act quickly

Report it immediately, and make sure it can be verified that you reported it.  Notify all the Credit folks on the web, and contact the local police to see if there is more you can do, or have done.

That stuff gets very, very expensive.  It can include everything you have saved, your home.. everything.  JUMP on the problem and do everything you can as fast as you can.  It can take years to undo.

FUTHER.. if the sleeze ball that stole the number slips out without paying taxes, the IRS will contact you and collect all the unpaid taxes if you have not done things correctly.  

I truely suggest a lawyer for starters.  If you know you are in jeopardy (lost or stolen wallet.. ) GET INSURANCE today!!

You may not have anything worth stealing, but if your name is used in a Credit Card Scam, you can wind up paying all the debts back.
