  1. I knock the teacher out and have them done for assualt on my child

  2. Growing up I went to school in two different countries where I have been paddled and slapped in the face as punishment--I deserved it. The paddling school, the parents signed a form regarding the school's education and punishment. The slapping school was just part of the culture. Or another old school method: rule slap on the wrists, make the child take of their belt and hit them with it, or make them pick out their own branch to hit them with. My mom would just throw at us whatever was near her. It all works. Obviously you don't beat a child and I think that's the misconception we have where physical punishment has become taboo because some parents don't know the difference between corrections and abuse. I think today's kids could use a paddling or slap now and then as well but to bring it back in public school might be too much.

  3. Not part of the "modern" educational system (Thank God!!), though certainly something that engenders respect and/or actually dread among the little "dears" would be most welcome.

No authority anymore at home or at school -- where can it all go?

  4. I would praise them for teaching my child the ways of the higher one.

  5. I'd freak out if anyone ever hit my kid's with that when they were little.  It's up to the parents to disiplin their children at home, not up to a bloody teacher to hit your kid's with a strap!

And just let me add a little something.  When my youngest was in grade 1.  The whole school was in an assembly on a Friday morning, my daughter had a shirt on with pictures of running shoes and real laces.  All she was doing was twirling the laces through her fingers and her stupid a$$ teacher threatened my daughter that she would tie the laces around her neck.  Well, boy did my husband and I react, to make a long story short, she was suspended for two weeks without pay.

Teachers do not have the right to physically hurt anyone's children, at least under normal circumstances.  If it's high school and self defence, that's a little different.

  6. When I was a kid they used to hit use with a paddle.  Mainly the woodshop teacher.  He made a number of paddles.  He would line up all the boys and paddle us.  I always suspected he was some s*x pervert and got aroused form it but I will never know.  I would not let a teacher hit my kid.

  7. Apparently this was acceptable in 1956.

  8. I would sue them for all they were worth no teacher needs to discipline my child that is my job not theres.

  9. How can all these people sit here and say they would allow that! I would seriously hurt someone they used that thing on my kid! I would like to use it on everyone who says they would do that to a child is just crazy! Its one thing to hit a child with your hand if it is REALLY serious but no need to use things like that.

  10. I would have been fine with it back at that time.  Times have changed though.

  11. NO WAY!! I am the only one that can discipline my child in that way if I think they need it.  I don't allow anyone to do that to my child.  I am the parent not them.  They would have a fight on their hands and a law suit.

  12. You're asking a question about something that was done over 50 years ago.  When I was in school (graduated in 1988), the principal had a paddle, but it wasn't used often.  It was more of a last resort.  Of course, back then we had so fewer problems with kids than now.  As for the poster that says discipline is her job...kudos to you.  However, the numbers are greatly increasing  in parents who do not discipline their children.  I also feel that the children need consequences at school and need to disciplined on the spot, not when they get home.  I wouldn't have problems with it IF, it was used as a last resort, it was done at the principal's office and not the classroom, and if I'd signed a consent form.

  13. I'd kick a** and take names.

  14. back then it was ok. but now a days i would just switch my kid to a different school.

  15. As long as they called for permission before then I would be a-ok with it.

Parents that don't spank their kids are retarded.

  16. spanking a child is sometimes necessary but with a paddle a couple of times.  Not a strap.  That wouldnt happen to my kid.

  17. If they asked me 1st it would be fine with me.

  18. It was like that when i went to school.Got the strap often and it does not work. You just get used to the beating. If they tried that now i would have there jobs.People will not stand for it and we the community have control over are school board.

  19. As long as permission was asked I'd be ok with it, what is it with parents who don't believe in getting spanked.  I'm not talking about beating your kids, but a whack is a whack and if they deserve one on the ***, they'll get it.  How did your parent's punish you? Did you get a whack on the *** when you deserved it, cuz I certainly did.  Oh yea and I'm 28 by the way, they paddled kids when I was in middle school, they called parents and asked if it was ok, if it was, well the student's got 3 whacks on the ***, and everyone I know who got paddled turned out ok!

  20. Wow that's big paddle!!!!!!

I got a dose of the "cuts"across my finger in primary school sheesh it hurt but I never re offended again

A long Cane was also used mainly in boys schools

I think a small strap does the job with out harm just a few tears

  21. Go, take it and beat all of the adults with it who have used it on children. there are better ways to punish children rather than affecting their thoughts towards the parents. its that kind of behavior that causes suicide, and runaways. parents who whip their children have done something much worse than the child themselves.

I see whiping, as the same thing as beating and abuse.
