Question:

What would you do if you homeschooled your son (because of a medical condition) but he went to public school?

for 1 hour a day for a few classes, but your car broke down. The walk to school is 20 minutes & you have a younger child as well. So by the time you walk up there & walk home, it would be time to walk back up there to get him-otherwise you would just have to sit at the school for an hour. The reason I ask is because I don't really want to pull him out of school (he loves it), but also don't want to walk up there and sit an hour each day with my other child as the weather is turning cold & wondered if anyone had any other suggestions? I don't think a bus runs at the time that he goes, so that's not an option. There probably are no other options, but just thought I'd ask.

  1. Our children were all homeschooled.  They would never have been in a public school.  They did go to a church school for a very  short period of time when we lived near one. So I guess my answer might be a bit biased, but I would homeschool. There would be no other choice for me. Homeschooling is by far the best educational choice for kids.

Do you need a better car? We could put that on a prayer list.

  2. Contact the school about handicapped busses.  They usually run specific to child, time, and address. Hope this helps.

  3. Even though a bus doesn't run at that time, there might be some way to get a special ed bus sent to pick him up because of his medical condition.  If that is not an option, do you have any neighbors who would be willing to either give your son a ride or watch your other child while you wait?  I mean for a little while until your car is fixed.

Otherwise, I suppose your son could be absent for one or two of his days... until you get it fixed.

  4. Why don't you get your car fixed????

  5. Tuff question,,, but we all have to make sacrifices for our children..

so either go put down a down payment on a new car and just make monthly payments.. and get rid of the old car

    or

borrow/pay a friend/neighbor's car until u get ur car repaired

    or

walk it with him each day

    or

send him in the mornings and walk up after his class is over.

the school should help u work something out, even if he goes late in the day, and then rides the bus home.

He needs his education.. so we have to do what we have to for them.. even if it is hard on us.. Children needs  come before ours.

I wish u a lot of luck in working this out.

  6. I might suggest discussing this with the school. Often they would have alternatives since your son has medical conditions.....you might also contact your local state agencies in regards to getting your car repaired. The school can help you with phone #'s
