Seriously, what would you do? What could you do to make the truth known to the public so that people could no longer be fleeced by these *******? I just can't get over the lies this vet tells people all to make a buck and usually to scare people into spending more loads of unecessary money.. They just told a friend of mine that it was unsafe, toxic and "bad" to use Polysporin on a cat. I just called another vet today and they said it's fine. I can find no evidence to back up their assertion that it would harm a cat to use polysporin on a small hotspot type wound. The persons cat had a sore on her neck the vet gave her a spray that didn't work it actually made it worse. They used Polysporin on it instead and it got better.. when she told the vet about it they practically cut her down over it saying how bad it was and blah, blah blah.. this isn't the first time I've caught them in a lie. They told me my cat would have to be on meds for the rest of his life because he had a URI when he was a kitten.. it's viral you only medicate when they have a flare up, which my cat hasn't had!! I just wish I could put them out of business they are liars, crooks and they milk honest people out of tons of money by playing on their fears.. What can I do to put a stop to it???

  1. I'm interested in this because my old vet totally mishandled my cats diabetes thus removing any chances she had for remission. Thank god she doesn't have any kidney damage! I have the records that show their incompetence and that they wanted to treat her with diet despite the fact that her blood sugar was too high. Once I educated myself I realised how bad they were but I think they should be reported - at the very least to be retrained so they don't do this to someone elses animal. Their excuse to me was that "insulin treatment is full on and expensive" but they never gave me that option!!! And that is MY decision to make and if you ask me, it's not that full on or expensive.

I have a really good vet now but I get so angry thinking about that other vet. People rely on vets to do the best possible for the animal and I understand being a vet isn't easy but this was fairly basic stuff.

  2. You can report them for bad medical practices. Besides that, there is not much you really can do. If they are mis-diagnosing problems, then you would have a better case.

  3. I find word of mouth is usually pretty effective in pet care circles.

If animal people dont like a certain vet, pet store, animal shelter, etc they tend to spread the word far and wide. Seriously. Theres a pet store in my old town that looked great from the outside but internally they were giving pet owners really bad advice (basically stuff that kills the animals, and also advising people to live feed their snakes which is illegal in this state) I go to alot of different pet stores and discuss different stores when I am talking to the staff there- I talked to people 300km away that had heard about how bad that particular store was! I say- spread the word!

  4. Report that d**n liar of a vet! Short. Sweet. Simple xD

  5. You can report the matter to the securities immediately as malpractice is a punishable act. Obviously you will have to caution the securities about your doubts and they will look into the matter more sternly. Moreover my dog died due to a vets careless behavior too, that's the reason I suggest you do what you need too immediately and for other pet owners sake. In the mean time, have a read of 'How to keep your Pets happy, on http://www.freewebs.com/soniapaul/articl... Thanks

  6. I would check this website (below)which lists the veterinary medical board to each state. I would start by filing a complaint with the veterinary medical board and see if it could be investigated.  Veterinarians are required to be licensed and I would think that if enough complaints would come in their license could be revoked.
