  1. I wouldn't let myself run over my neighbor's dog (or any dog).  However, I would run over my neighbor's cats.

  2. I'd feel very, very bad - and probably ask the neighbor why they let their dog run loose.

  3. I'd totally tell them right away. You'd probably loose their trust if you waited. My neighbor ran over my cat once, she thought it was a raccoon but it ended up being my kitty.

  4. Did you do this?Is the dog dead?Is it hurt?Did you tell the people and then offer to pay at least half the vet bills (because the dog had to be lose or you could not have run over him right?) Own up to it and be really kind and understanding of there loss. But you must tell them.Tilks Mom

  5. I would point at the car next to me and be like...you jerk..then run to the neighbours while sobbing and tell them that their dog was runover by some one...J K  i would feel devastated

  6. Be extremely apologetic/upset and a nervous wreck, and offer to pay for the dogs funeral, if they wanted one. Or at least pay for the vet bills it if had some chance of survival.

  7. I actually did run over a neighbor's dog a few years ago. She came out of no where , she died instantly. I was very upset & grabbed the dead dog by the collar dragging it out of the road. I went to the door & even told them. I was very upset. It did make me feel better after they told me, they  were considering euthanizing the dog due to failing kidneys.

  8. I'd be really upset and feel horrible.

  9. i would avoid doing that caz i would watch where the heck im going and even if i did i would tell them the honest truth one of our neighbors hit our dog whom we miss GREATLY and im thankful that he told us and i know its not his fault caz Chico always chased cars and thats how he got hit but anyways if u did hit your neighbors dog u need to tell them the truth and that ur deeply sorry the old man that hit our dog cried when he hit him:(((  but really just tell them the truth

  10. 1) Stop the car

    2) Check on the well being of the dog

    3) Take the dog to the vet for emergency care if applicable

    4) In the event of the dogs death notify the neighbors

    5) Offer to pay towards getting them another dog.

    6) Apologize profusely

  11. Well, you gotta tell them first!

If it's dead, wrap the dog in a clean blanket and give it to them. Make sure it's wrapped in such a way it cant fall out, but your neighbour can access the dog to say goodbye.. Then tell them you're sorry. Help them with anything possible to do with the dog Eg. digging the hole. Then leave it, there is nothing you can do.

If it's alive and badly injured, take it to the vet, the least you can do is pay the bill since you ran it over. Then when it's been fixed, take it to its home and tell them the story.

  12. I would take the body and go tell the neighbour.  There is nothing to hide as long as you didn't do it deliberately.

I would also hide my disgust at them for letting their dog on the road as I know they would be grieving.

  13. I did that once.

The best thing to do is dig a hole about 3 feet deep.

dismember the parts and store in a heavy duty garbage bag and put the bag in the hole and cover it up, and move on with the rest of your life.

  14. I would be very angry that their irresponsible behaviour in allowing their dog to be on the road caused me to run over it.  I would be devastated and would check the dog and make sure if it was still alive it got prompt medical attention.  I would let the neighbours know what had happened.  However, I would not feel any responsibility for paying vet bills or for a replacement dog because my car belongs on the road and their dog doesn't.  Their dog belongs in their yard.  I am a dog lover and try to be responsible with my dogs and keep them safe in their yard and that is why I would be so angry.  In the same way if my dog escaped from its yard and was hit by a car (God forbid it should ever happen) I could not blame the driver.

Edit:  I agree with you Loosey that they may not know it has gotten out.  I know that my own dogs have been known to have escaped from my yard some time ago.  All I am saying is that it is my responsibility to ensure that my dog is not on the roads and if by some misfortune it happens it is not the fault of the driver if it races across the road and is hit.  I would not expect the driver to pay the bills but I would expect the driver to ensure that the dog received medical assistance.  There is no way I could leave an injured dog on the side of the road.  In fact, I witnessed a young dog being hit by a car in front of me.  They didn't stop and the dog was obviously badly hurt so i stopped, firstly tried to find the owner but they weren't home so I took the dog into town to the Vet's.  I know the person who hit the dog and their excuse for not stopping is "I was running late."  So was I as we were going to the same place.  I am not cold and heartless I just think that an owner is responsible for their dog and a dog does not belong on the road.

  15. I would feel horrible and I would cry as I was getting out of my car to go straight to the dog to see if I could help it. I would let my neighbor know right away and offer to get the dog to her vet pronto ( if it was still alive) and pay the bill. Then I would feel really bad for quite a while. And BTW to some of the other posters, sometimes dogs find ways to sneak out of where they are kept, so it would probably not be too good of a thing to go off on them for the dog being loose, they may not be aware of it being out, so don't get ahead of yourselves on this one. My grandchild (2yr.) let our dog out and he was out for about 5 minutes before we knew it. A dog can go a long way in 5 minutes.

  16. RUN DUDE RUN!!!

  17. i would kill myself...jk, i would be very deppressed and would cry for at least a week, luckily i would not do that because i do not have a car at the moment!

  18. Apologize. Make sure the dog wasn't dead first or if it was inured transport it to the Vet! (duh lol) and offer some kind of peace offering....even money. I don't mean bribary but to cover the fees for whatever they want to do with the body or hopefully just the vet bills and the such!

  19. Tell them and take the body to them. Apologize.

Do not try to hide it or cover it up. That's horrible, they would be looking for their dog, putting up "lost dog" fliers, etc,, and not know their dog was dead. They would always wonder what happened to it. If they at least know what happened to the dog, they can properly grieve.
