What would you do if you saw someone beating their child in public?

If it was a real beating I would call the police right away with my cell.

If I was alone and not with my children I would intervene, although I am pregnant so it could be rather risky... but I would intervene and protect the child.

If it was a spanking I wouldn't say anything, although I am anti-spanking... I wouldn't interject myself in someone else's choice of parenting.

There is no doubt in my mind that if the child was in harms way I would make it my business to report the beating to the proper authorities.  Call child protective services, the police, and I would not care what others looking on thought of me at the moment.  

If you look on and do nothing, you are as guilty as the person committing the violent act.  

Do the right thing!!! Call authorities-it could save a life.

it depends on how they're beating the child...are they spanking them because they're bad as h**l or beating them like someone stole their money?

Call the cops immediately or try to intervene. They've actually done hidden camera specials where actors pretend to kidnap another child actor and people just walk by not caring. It's sad and it sickens me how selfish people can be.

I doubt they'd do that in public. But me, personally, I'd want to go over and start yelling at the loser that's doing it.

If they are actually beating a child, then I'd call the police.  Abuse is not acceptable.

Seeing that you didn't say spanking, I figured you did mean an actual beating.  If it was a simple spanking, I would do nothing.

Call the cops and stop it.  If I saw this happening right in front of my eyes there is no way I could just stand there and do nothing, I'd have to intervene.  If they tried to leave with the child I would probably stop that from happening too.  

I might end up in jail for it, but if it were really bad I think I might get a little pissed and end up showing them what a beating feels like.  Hurting children is just plain WRONG!

i would most certainly walk up to the person and say somthing. no child should be beaten and if you saw this happen or maybe even you how dare you not do somthing or if you even did.

"spanking them"-smile and say it's about time someone disciplined their own kids

It all depends on how old the child is and how they're getting beat.  If it's on the hand or butt then i would assume it's discipline.  Even a light smack on the mouth.

Anywhere else though I would seek other help, weather it be calling the police or finding a security guard.
