  1. tell them that it is your life, and its your choice to make.  dont' eat meat if you dont want to.  most people think that not eating meat is a bad thing, and just dont' realize how many other options for meat there are.  tell them why you dont' want to eat meat, and hope for the best.

  2. i begged my parents to let me go veg for years.  i tried just not eating the meat that was served at dinner and my parents would literally PUNISH me if i didn't eat it!! they said it was wasteful, so i told them not to cook it for me.....that didn't work either.

honestly, my parents were so unreceptive that i had to wait until i went to college and left the house.  now they can tell that i'm serious about it and that i'm healthier and they support me wholeheartedly.

if i could do it over again i would take my parents to a nutritionist so that they could be told (by a professional) that vegetarian diets can be healthy and so we could learn how to keep the whole family happy at dinnertime.  good luck with your parents.....i've been there and it can be hard to get support from them if they're worried about your choice.

  3. Are you eating healthy?  I know some teens that say they are vegetarians and they don't even eat vegetables.  They are eating all carbohydrates and junk foods.  If you are eating vegetables and healthy I cannot imagine why your parents want to force you to eat meat.  Most parents just want their kids to eat healthy. If they love meat so much they probably have some health issues from it? cholesterol? Heart or blood pressure problems? weight? Why not kindly and respectfully tell them that you do not want to inherit their health problems and that should make them think.  I cannot imagine a parent upset watching their child eat a their veggies, now if your one of those non veggie vegetarians, don't do it, seriously, snack cakes, chips, sodas and candy is not a healthy diet.  If you know some great recipes why don't you make them a great meal or even just one dish, hummus and pitas or something to win them over?

  4. Eat the way you wish outside of the house. And is it possible to just NOT eat meat at the dinner table when your parents cook?

  5. It depends on how old I was. Since I am 19, that would be bull since I am an adult already. But I am not a vegetarian...

  6. well i say kill them and practice cannibalism instead.

  7. I just bought and made my own food.  Eventually it dawned on my mom that I was serious.

  8. Tell them to go kiss my ****. Yes, they're your parents, but you can make your own decisions too, y'know.

  9. If you are a minor living at home, you can discuss it with them but you have to abide by your parent's decisions. If you are old enough, then you can move out, and "rents" your own place and be all you want to be..

  10. That happened to me, and I did it anyway.  Basically, think of it this way... let's say you want to be a vegan... but they won't buy you any *special* vegan foods such as vegetables, rice, beans, or whatever.  Okay... play their game... they know that if they starve you, they will get into trouble... social services will be on their ***... and you will be like, "All I ask for is fruits and vegetables and beans and legumes and whole grains etc... nothing special... but they won't buy it for me... boo hoo hoo hoo..."  They will test you.. to see how serious you are.  You have to hold your ground.  They cannot force feed you.  See, most people are not very smart or open minded, plus they cannot remember being  young... sure, they remember events etc., but it's like watching a movie, they do not remember their thoughts, feelings, motives, etc.  They have become "adults"  --- oooh, scarry stuff... yup... They don't think anymore, they just react.  So, you will have to stand up for yourself and speak their language.  The 'adult' language.  Which means, no laughing, no crying, it's serious stuff... "I'm am a vegetarian now, and you can either support me or go against me... that's your choice.  You can either allow me to enjoy life, or make my life miserable... it's your choice, just as it's my choice to be a vegetarian."  You can even throw in, "There are many vegetarian kids at school and their parents have no problems with it" even if it is a lie.
