  1. Nah, stuff it. Do your worst. I'm caving in to no one.

  2. Been there, done that.

I refused to participate in traditions that I did not, for my own personal reasons, choose to participate in.

Any social structure unwilling to accept me for who I am is not a social structure of which I wish to be a part.  There are other social structures out there.

  3. Their are many followers within their respective faiths that are closet atheists.

  4. You got that right, I believe in the scientific laws of the universe and biological evolution. Science research and discovery is the salvation of Mankind.

  5. grow a set

  6. please dont take this the wrong way but you need to decide what is important in life

you see that there is no god and still follow beliefs

if this is what the only thing that connects you to your girlfreind then you

may want to evaluate your relationship

    no one is like you?

you will be surprised to find that many are like you.

you said that others you suspect are in your situation and pretending aswell.

if this is true then by steping up you may find yourself

going from living on your knees to walking with men behind you

it is a wonderful experience. i know what it is like to have to hide

but there is no reason to anymore.

find a way to be alive

to thine own self be true

  7. I do that all the time, My family is catholic and I go to all religious activity with them but I do not participate in things like praying and such, I just sit there not doing a thing. I don't believe I am an hypocrite either.

I also have a cousin who is of the LDS and I went with him a couple of times to his chiurch and just sat there watching.

This like if you don't like base-ball and you still go with friends or family to a game or to watch it on tv.

  8. look at life with an open mind and an open heart... be honest

  9. To conform would mean having my spirit crushed.

  10. Be your own person, if they cant respect your own choices then you are letting them rule your life way to much.  Pull one aside and talk to them, tell them how you feel. I bet they will be a little more understanding then you think.

  11. Atheists don't have a religion generally, so they can't "follow some customs and traditions" of their religion.

  12. Sounds like you are hedging your bets in the faith field. If your family members are christians, they will love you no matter what you believe. If you do not believe there is a God, then don't participate in religious activities. Bottom line, your only hurting yourself. What gets me the most is the fact that atheists have a greater faith than anyone. They only believe in man, with what we are capable of (good and evil); that kind of faith is something else. Christians go through this all the time when they accept Christ. They lose friends and family members because they change. Those that love you (truly love you) will continue to do so. They may be sad about your beliefs, but they will and I repeat; they will continue to love you. What gets me is the fact that you love these people so much that you are willing to pretend to believe what they do. If they are all believers, what was it about them or growing up with them that turned you off to God in the first place? Maybe that is what you should look at, instead of maintaining the status quo. Good luck.

  13. Why deceive them?
