What would you do if your 15 year old stepdaughter physically attacked you?

My friend called me this morning and said that her SD attacked her last night. My friend accused her SD of intentionally hurting her 5 year old daughter ( her daughter was scratched and bruised because the SD pushed her). The SD got upset, they got into an argument and the SD grabbed my friend by her hair and hit her. My friend called the police. She has a lot of marks on her body, but the SD has no marks.

Anyway, I wasn't there and I do not know both sides of the story, my friend says the SD attacked her and the SD says she was attacked first. But how can I help my friend and her SD to deal with this situation? What would you do if your SD attacked you? Would you fight back? Would you call the cops? I don't think my friend should've called the cops, she could get in trouble, right? Can a 15 year old child be charged with assault?

Ok if a 15 yr old attacked my 5 year old..yes I would confront her. If she attacked me d**n right I'd call the police...really I'd want to beat her @ss but then I'd go to jail. I would not allow her in my house or near my child ever again. Her father can go visit her.

The adult did the right thing by calling the police and stopping the fight there before anyone would get seriously hurt. For the most part, the 5 year old needs to be somewhere more stable  - away from this violence attacks and peaceful stable area. It is not healthy for the little girl to be somewhere to see fights and maybe even be abused by someone else. Kids these days / falls, gets scratches and bumps , but I am not sure how bad the scratches and bruises are. The 15 year old can go to jubie jail /place for teens - like jail.

My father was an *** and married 3 times after he and my mother divorced.  All of my stepmother's were terrible.  I don't think that some of them can stand the thought of their husbands having children with someone else, so she was abusive to me. Maybe it's both ways.  Maybe the stepmother was abusive also...you never know.

Yes I would have called the cops too. Better to have the cops come in then get in trouble for hitting her back.
