My daughter's school have rules that study hall has to be SILENT. She and her friend were sitting together and passing notes. The teacher saw and took the note. The next day, they had copys for everyone in the class. It was about her boyfriend and how she was thinking of breaking up with him because they haven't kissed. Silly, but her boyfriend broke up with her for that. This happened at the end of the school year, and I haven't done anything about it yet, but my daughter and her friends think I should. What do you guys think?

  1. I don't think there is much you can do.  In the past, teachers have read notes they caught students passing to then entire class. (It even happened to me once.) It's their way of thinking that they will make the students not want to do it again.

  2. I think you should do NOTHING.

perhaps your daughter will stop writing notes in class!!!!!

if was humiliated over the incident.... she'll get over it and if her boyfriend broke up for it..... perhaps it is a good thing.

sometimes parents hurt their children by trying to protect them!!!!!!

  3. As a teacher, all I can say is when would anyone think it is allowed to pass notes in STUDY hall. The key operative there is study...not pass notes. While the teachers way of handling the situation was somewhat radical, I really dont see much of a problem with it. Maybe youre daughter will not be a clown anymore and will study and not pass notes in study hall.

  4. How old is your daughter? I assume she is a teenager. I am 23 years old so I am not that out of touch with high school. Here is my opinion on this. If your daughter was just passing a note to her friend because she wanted to talk to her and not break the silent rule hen that's fine. As far ad the teacher doing what she did I would have t say that is so wrong and you should report it. Good luck to you!

  5. Well, they know full well that they are not to pass notes.  I would say that you should go to the principal and the superintendant and maybe the school board to FIND OUT if anything was done incorrectly, and then decide whether or not the board handles the situation correctly and take a further step if necessary.  Maybe just tell her to "chin up".  Follow the rules next time.
