Well, I feel I would have to be dirt poor, and have an empty fridge and cabinets in that scenario. Therefore, to support my son, I would ask my neighbors for food to feed him. I'm sure they would be caring and understanding. It would be hard.

In reality, I would never have a child when poor.

Sorry, I'm not buying that scenario.  No matter how bad things get, you always have a choice. There is NEVER a reason or an excuse for a woman to engage in an act of prostitution or any other illegal activity.

Think about it: what good will you be to your son if you are arrested for that? or if you contract AIDS or get beat up by either the babydaddy or the "john" and you die, leaving your child motherless?

There are a lot of legitimate and LEGAL options out there, you just need to utilize them.

You need to break out a yellow pages, contact some sort of agency or a local church so you can get emergency food from a food bank and/or even find a soup kitchen of some sort.

You could also get out there and start collect cans from dumpster and bottle and then cash them in at a local store. Also, consider going to apply for welfare and food stamps.

If you truly are that down and out and are unable to care for him properly in a safe environment, then maybe you should seriously consider putting your son in foster care until you are in a better position to take care of him, or even placing him for adoption permanently.  There is no shame in doing that, and it would be giving him a better opportunity in life.

Sorry- I do not concur. IF money was that low living off the land is the next most obvious possibility. People forget that we used to live that way, raising our own livestock, harvesting food off the land.

Seriously, as a chef living off the land is a no brain er- and if anyone has a go at me for suggesting this then-GET EDUCATED!!!!!! Getting back to our roots is the only way forward, lets stop dependancy on state or anything else- stay self suffiecient.
