What would you do in a situation like this...?

Let's say you and your twin sister are very close. You visit your dad's side of the family for three months every year. While visiting, you meet a cousin who becomes the third part of your group. You're all very close--you, twin sister, guy cousin. Until after a bit you start to feel left out. This cousin and your twin sister are ducking out on you, avoiding you, whispering to themselves, etc. You're furious! One day, at an annual family Christmas party, you decide to confront them about it.

You see them outside talking. You decide to take the opportunity and spy for a bit first before you just jump in--you want to know what they're saying about you!

And then, your cousin leans over and kisses your sister. And she doesn't push him away.

What do you do in a situation like that? How would you react? Would you jump out and interrupt them? Watch them kiss, in disbelief? Breathe a sigh of relief (they don't hate me after all!) and sneak away? Wait until they finish and confront them both? Or just your sister?

  1. Hope that it's a phase and doesn't go too far. Nothing is gained from a small gene pool.

Shreiking Violet: yesterday you thought a woman of 29 dating a man in his early twenties was odd, but this scenario is 'private business'? You're odd.

  2. I would actually be pretty shocked, but then glad they didn't hate you, but at the same time, they may have been slightly tipsy ... or otherwise I would just ask them upfront about whats been going on...

  3. First of all, this sounds like the makings of a best seller novel!

Second, how old is everybody? And how close is this cousin?  Is he a first, second, third, or further cousin?  (Choose one!)

If your twin is a minor, I'd sure confront her about the relationship.

If we are dealing with a first cousin, I'd also confront her.

Otherwise, let it go.  It might make for a very interesting family reunion!

    Weird!

  4. are you writing a letter to penthouse or something

  5. I would ignore it because people's s*x lives are their private business.

  6. I think I would be grossed out.. sneak away and then come back with a camera..

Make sure the flash is on and run like heck...

But seriously you should talk to your parents before they bring embarrassment upon your family. Because if people found out it wouldn't just affect them but everyone in your family would be the butt of many jokes for a very very long time.

I know that answer doesn't sound "progressive" but it is the hard truth.

  7. How close of cousins? You know a lot of families married cousins all the time back in the day! If it were me, I'd be relieved that they didn't hate me and sneak away.

  8. Quickly walk away ~ give them some privacy, and yeah, I guess feel a bit relieved ~ they're not avoiding me, just wanting a little 'them' time..

And think of the teasing that's going to be happening when I get that sister on her own ~ she's going to be sorry she didn't tell all before I found out for myself :-)

    Cheers :-)

  9. Well I would be relieved that they didn't hate me. Then I would be glad for them that they are happy. I would leave them to themselves from now on until they invite me to join them again. I would find some friends to hang out with instead.

  10. I would probably jump out of my hidding spot and yell "INCEST!"

    then run away...
