Suppose you're batting 1st (in an ODI). Your team gets a good start & the score once 127-1 in 20 overs, now shows 151-5 in 25 overs. What would be your plan as a captain (to be told to the next batsmen in line) & your overall approach towards the game left ??

  1. Defensive play with calculated risks~

  2. play stablt and dn't give ur wicket

  3. better get ur full energy 2 lead his confidence n don let him down his guts n u will lead it

  4. play defence on balls on your wicket but anyting else try to hit every thing else for a 4 but dont smash it and give a stupid cach away

  5. I would still try to fix the match acording to the bookie.

  6. 151 is still a decent score in 25 overs but 5 wickets down is a bit of a downside. Well, just be steady and do not give out any wickets until 43rd or 44th over and then start hitting for a big score. And I think 6 or 7 overs should be good enough for a set batsmen to make a big score for their team.

  7. Just b cool & play ur game keeping  wickets in hand...And don't go 4 any big or Risky shots..Just Take 1's & 2's ...And Play Complte Overs..

  8. i will tell him just to calm down and the run rate is above 6 so we dont need to take risks till 44 overs, just keep rotating the strike in every 1-2 ball and sometimes safely play in the gaps, theres no hurry

  9. Play SAfe Cricket .. depend on singles and doubles .. dont try to Play big shots .. just play till end ! .. i think thats the best way to score !...

  10. My statement to the next batsman in line would have been

JUST GO AND ENJOY UR GAME.PLAY THE WAY YOU WANT TO.I AM THERE WITH YOU EVERYTIME YOU NEED ME.ALL THE BEST.

  11. To play safe. Not take risks, but build a partnership. And if it steadies out , then they could make runs.

The total will increase as they play steady. Not being out soon and playing the 50 overs is important.

A target of 250 at least. May be 270.

  12. play natural game!!

  13. tell batsmen to reach the 250 mark in 45 ovrs widout lusin more than 2 wickets and then charge in for atleast 280-290 b4 the innings getz ovr.

and then tell the bowlers not 2 conceed more than 4-5 runs pr ovr and obviously tell the fielders not 2 drop a single catch as u know 'catches win matches'.

  14. The key at this stage is to keep wickets in hand. There is no need to plan too far ahead. I would ask the next batsman to mainly look for singles and twos not going for anything risky. Look at what happens till 30 overs and then at completion of 30 overs i would send the 12th man with the message of keep going the same way because batsman easily get carried away and as a captain it is my duty to keep them focussed Do the same after 35 overs

Only after about 40 overs will I ask them to press the accelerator and go on the charge.

A safer game will not cause more damage as if you lose 4 wickets in a hurry the only thing you have left to do is consolidate.

  15. play singles game and dnt give wickets just concentrate fully and take singles and on loose deliveries boundaries.

  16. i would advice to batsmen that play single double game till 40 over. so if we acheive 4 run average in this 15 (with 1 wicket loss it would be 211 for 6) and then try to acheive 60 runs in last 10. so it would be 271. which would be the competative score at any wicket.

  17. I would tell the two batsmen in the middle not to take risks and play safe.

Keeping wickets in hand till the last 10 overs is important. You don't want to get bowled out in less than 50 overs.Playing the total number of allocated overs is important.

  18. I agree with Montitude....this is ODI cricket and 50 overs is not T20. The strategy is totally different. 25 overs remaining is a lifettime and a lifeline..remember the Natwest Final against England a few years ago which India just about won in the last 1 or 2 balls.

  19. don't be in tension&play camly.we should not be losing wicket.

  20. exactly! kill the opposition!
