What would you give your kids for their 16th birthday, if it was just coming up?

I would love to be able to help my boys get their first car at 16 but for their 16 th birthday i am just hoping to be able to give them a great birthday party they will love with lots of friends there

ask them what they want, thats what my parents always did but the fun is kind of ruined because then they know what they're getting but atleast you're getting something they want

My daughter just turned 16. I could tell she wanted a party, but she knew we'd never pay for a big Sweet 16 party like a few she's been to and what she's seen on tv. So I threw her a surprise party instead. I had about 20 of her friends gather 'round a table in a back room at a restaurant, and when she arrived with her best friend she was totally surprised.  :)  Afterwards, the kids came home with us and played "Apples to Apples" and watched cheesy Sweet 16 movies. They all had a great time.

I think doing this as a surprise was the only good solution for us. This way, we didn't have to invite so many people, and if anyone said it was "lame," she could blame it on us. But of course, no one said that, and she really, really appreciated the effort.

I think we got her a few gifts, too, but I don't even remember what they were. The party was the memorable thing.

Well, a party of course. I would NOT give them a car. I beleive if a kid has to earn thier own car and pay for most (if not all) of it, they will treat it better.

I would give gift cards to thier favorite stores.

If i was rich, a car!

Money is always good for a 16yr old then they can spend it on what ever they like.

If its a girl, a 16yr old pendant from the jewlery store is always good.

It all depends on how much your willing to spend.

Well, I got a car the Christmas before my 16th but most people are completely against that; I take care of my car and have respected the value and pleasure of owning one since day one. But I would give them $200-$300 to do what they want and a small get together with friends. Maybe get them a gift they will remember like a piece of jewelry if it's a girl. Good luck!
