  1. Ford is making fuel efficient vehicles. The Escape Hybrid and Ranger are both class leading.

Whats a better question is why a 1992 Honda Civic can get 48/55mpg and a newer Civic or a hybrid Prius can't get as good of gas mileage as such an old car.

  2. The big three are in order of worldwide sales GM, Toyota, and Ford.

The Chrysler group and their parent company have not been in "the big three in years now.  I'm guessing you were including them referring to the old "Big Three", now the "Detroit Three".

    GM has:

    The Malibu Hybrid

    Tahoe Hybrid

    Escalade Hybrid

    VUE Hybrid

    - also a few special fuel saving packages for the Cobalt/G5 Pursuit plus the tiny eco friendly Aveo/Wave

    Toyota has:

    The Pruis

    Camry Hybrid

    Highlander Hybrid

    RX400h Hybrid

    LS600h Hybrid

    - Plus the tiny Yaris is great on gas.

    Ford has:

    The Escape Hybrid

    Mariner Hybrid

The most fuel efficient pickup on the North American market, the Ranger.

    The Focus gets excellent mileage.

And Ford is bringing some of it's cars from other markets (think European style and fuel economy) in the next year.

If you're looking for a fuel sipping car for any personality and needs from the big three automakers on the planet, you will thankfully have a great deal of choice.

P.S. Chrysler, Honda, and Nissan also sell Hybrids and fuel efficent cars and SUV's in the North American market.

  3. They do. You just haven't looked.
