Some are wanting to allow off shore drilling for oil and gas..I live on the texas gulf coast.. and offshore drilling has been going on here for years . It has never stopped.. I can see three drilling rigs running from the bay where I live.. Not work over units of exisitng wells.. these are drilling rigs..in the bay.. Is there a certain distance from shore that is or is not considered offshore drilling.?. I dont understand ...I know they dont let them drill offshore around Florida and California... but that is by the states choice...There are several hundred people who work offshore here in my community every day.. I know some are working on exisiting wells though.. but the thing I dont understand is the rigs drilling for new oil and gas in the bay now... does the gulf of mexico ... (texas and Louisiana) not apply to the offshore drilling ban they have been speaking of???By the way I can not see one bit of damange that any of the offshore drilling has caused here... The people who fish say the fishing is great around the oil platforms of existing wells.. The offshore industry pays very good salaries and employees lots of people in our community.. The platfoms in the bay are not unsightly at all.. Offshore oil and gas production is a huge benefit for our local economy in more ways than one.. Our real esate sure hasnt gone down here.. our economy is great..

  1. Offshore drilling is banned in some places, not in others.
