I'm italian and I've been hosted for a month by an Irish family last summer. Now I'm doing my exams, but I would like to come and see them, probably next year, however, I would like to take them some gifts from Italy...If you were a nice, friendly, very kind couple of sixty year olders, what would you like to receive? (I was thinking about a couple of bottles of italian red wine...but what else?)

  1. I like the little shops in Venice and I know when I visited Italy everyone loved my presents from those kind of shops so I would perhaps get them a couple of glass ornaments along with the wine.

  2. A framed picture of yourself in your Hometown. A nice reminder of you!

  3. Wine and amaretti biscuits.

  4. An Italian Stallion

  5. Chances are they are Catholic, so maybe some nice souvenirs from the Vatican or a book on the Pope or Rosary beads blessed by the Pope

  14. I visited Italy a little while back (honeymoon in Gubbio - lovely people, by the way) - if I could get them to send me a box of something, it would be the dried porcini mushrooms. They're lovely.

Buying them here would cost an arm and a leg - but I remember them being fairly cheap over there...

  15. Some merino glass, a mask from Venice, some preserves, natural olive oil, wine from your region, some Italian music or a small painting from your home town. An invite back to your own home might be nice too.
