I am thinking about starting a bar (and maybe a restaurant) and I'd like to find out what people think would make it the altimate experience. What kind of entertainment would you like? What kind of drinks, or alcohol? what kind of atmosphere? I want to make this the ultimate experience for the customer, so please let me know what you think?

  1. No Matter what you do you need to have "special nights"...  That your customers can talk about and come back to...  bringing in more and more customers...

Our local Holiday Inn Lounge was absolutely dead on Sunday afternoons and evenings.  It was a day for cleaning basically.  Wore the jeans so I could climb on the counters and clean the glass to the top...  heehee.

Had a customer in on a breezy hot summer day and asked him if he would like some popcorn...  Well the smell of popcorn went sailing out to the highway...  and a few motorcyclists dropped in..  then with some traffic in the parking lot...  more people filtered in...  One of our regulars mentioned bringing his banjo in since we had no music...  from there we started having jam sessions...  always the popcorn..  then the onstage singing of the customers started.  Needless to say, Sundays ended up being one of our busiest days while I was the bartender....

    Just go with the flow

See what works and make sure your bartenders are friendly but unapproachable.   AND always greet the women coming in properly and make introduction whenever possible to create a "no one person left out"...  type of place.

    Good Luck

    Hotttttttt  Doggggg

  2. People usually drink and go to bars to escape from their problems or reality so why not make it a tropical theme so they will think they are on vacation.Waitresses in hula skirts, luau night, drink specials that go tropical,

  3. i have always wanted to go to a bar that has a lot of that cool blue lighting. example- border the floor & bar. make a liqour fountain. have huge drinks. get wacky glasses that light up & make a vip.

  4. non-smoking areas w/ decent filters

    comfy upholstered chairs and loveseats

maybe a button or flag to call the waitress over for refills or to order food

  5. I work at a Sports Bar & Grill on the weekends. We have set nights where we do different specials (i.e. Kareoki, Trivia; Beer Pong & Flip Cup). A Happy Hour special always attracts crowds.

Maybe try to get local musicians to perform. Some won't ask for money just because they want to get out there in the public eye.

    Good Luck!

  6. We go to a local bar (in Bennigan's) several times a week, primarily to play BUZZ-TIME, which is an interactive trivia game.  You compete against the players in your bar, and nationwide

  7. you should check your competition, and find a niche for your market. you will get 100 different answers if you ask 100 people. Try to stay away from trends IMO.
