My 4 year old registered paint horse, he is about 15.5 hands. He is dark brown, black and white. He has won pleasure classes and horsemanship and everyone that rides him LOVES his canter. his head set is very good. He has a lot of muscles. He can clear 2 ft easy and is very willing to go over jumps. He has been riddin on many trails and is very well behaved. He will pick up the canter right away. He rides english and he knows how to ride western. his jog is to-die-for!!! You can catch him easy, he loads himself into the trailer, he clips and bathes and will let you saddle him with out a problem. He is very calm and is not a screamer at a show... i dont want to sell him, i just want to know how much he is worth??? thanks, sorry no pictures

  1. Wouldn't give over $700 for him. I think this is the horse you had on an earlier post. He looks around 20 lbs under weight so I would be looking at his teeth, evaluating diet, and checking fecal count.

Horse's like him however are a dime a dozen and I could go and pick out 10 or more horses like him at an auction.

My biggest thing I tell people is don't go asking how much they think your horse is worth unless you are looking to sell. Everyone's horse in their eyes is worth a million bucks. And as long as you are happy with him and he suits you, then there is no need to worry about his worth in other's eyes.

EDIT- He doesn't look bad. I'd rather see a horse SLIGHTLY under weight than one that is obese.

  2. 1,000-10,000

  3. Without a picture, I'd say anywhere between $1200 and $2200.  He sounds gorgeous.

  4. depends on his bloodlines. but assuming nothing special. and if he lets you clip his ears. i'd pay 2000. cuz 2ft isn't very high. if he doesn't clip his ears then 1000. w/ good bloodlines 5000 lol

  5. 3,000-4,000 would my approximation. I dont know how he goes obviously. He will probably be worth more when he gets a few years older because he is still really young but sounds well trained for his age.

  6. You are describing a tri-colored Paint (dark brown, black and white) and so I am assuming he is a Bay Paint (Bay colors and having the natural Paint marking) and the black being on his tail, mane, and such as a Bay has. Sounds like a beautiful horse. And it sounds like a good all around prospect and well started for a 4-year-old and so I don't doubt that he can fetch something upwards from $3000 if the horse is sound and in good health and you are a patient seller. But to appeal to a broader market and compete for a faster sale I expect you would have to settle for something closer to $2500. I think I might ask $2800 and let them talk me down to $2500 or even $2400 if they won't budge higher. That's the highest opinion I can muster up sight unseen and without the benefit of having a veterinary exam and veterinary inspection of his, his sire, and the dam's health records and a professional appraisal. I don't place any value on or buy registered pedigree (paper) without that. Actually my highest offer at my weakest moment, maybe, would be $1000 tops. I have seen some very attractive and sound saddle-started Paints go through action in the neighborhood of $800.

  7. He has A LOT going for him!  He's a lovely paint.  He's been shown and does well.  He's VERY YOUNG!  He can be trail ridden and does english and western.  He also sounds very calm for a young horse.  My concern is with his health.  Is he 100% well now?  Assuming that he is, I'd think that he'd be worth around $4500.  What do you think?  Don't get rid of him though!  He sounds like he has a lot of potential and even you said that he has lots of pro's!  GOOD LUCK WITH HIM!  BTW, what's his name???  And what was wrong with him?

  8. i'd say ....3500-4500...i bought one of my horses for 6000 but he was seven and had professional show training under him but he sounds like a very well disciplined horse and very loving...so i would price him high..
