My twins are being Christened the 7th of September and I will have a house full of people over to dinner following the christening ( about 40). I'm planning to serve buffet style, regardless of what the menu turns out to be. Help for the menu would be GREAT!

  2. I would have 2 lamb legs, one to be served hot, the other as cold sliced.

    Several bowls of boiled potatoes.

    Smaller bowls of vegetables

    Pies perhaps

    Several Puddings.

  3. Salad of Romaine lettuce hearts, feta, tomatoes, black olives and baby corn; Penne pasta (whole wheat) with mushroom red sauce and grated mozzarella cheese, garlic bread slices, yellow cupcakes with white frosting and sprinkles; Seven-up, Pepsi, and Diet Dr. Pepper, bucket of ice with lid.  The idea here is to appeal to a variety of tastes while keeping it simple for you.  Good luck!

  4. Fried Chicken is nice

  5. I have twins too. CONGRATULATIONS! Mine are 5 now, going to Kindergarten! They are alot of work but FUN!

You can do lasagna because that you can do ahead of time or baked ziti! Pototoe salad,  green beans, salad with tomatoes and cucumbers and a iceburg lettuce salad. You can do hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken ON THE GRILL!! Corn on the cob. You can do a roast or steak on the grill that way the guests can eat it HOT. Chicken cutlets can be made before too!

I would go to a wholesale club like BJ's or cotsco and get some appitizers.(breaded shrimp, bruscheta, scallops wrapped with bacon, mini quiches, etc.) They have alot to choose from. Even chicken wings or bbq ribs are good. those you can do ahead of time. That's what I did for the twins bday party! You can even do a cold cuts platter with rolls to make sandwiches. Anything that you can do ahead of time is better so when you get home from christening, you just EAT!!!

    GOOD LUCK AND CONGRATS!!!

  6. you are going to need something that will hold over well - unless you will have someone staying at home cooking during the service.  When I had my Christening for my son, I cooked eye of round meat - I served it cold on rolls and horseradish sauce.  I served various cold salads etc.  I had someone make petit fours for dessert.
