At 14, are you legally allowed to drive yet?  Trust me, I got done for driving when I didn't have a license and it sure as h**l isn't worth it.

Australia, for sure.

I know it's an exciting prospect when you first start out, but driving is not all that fun when you're doing it day in, day out, the cost of petrol, rego, insurance, etc. it all adds up and makes it more of a tedious task than fun. Again, Australia for sure.

well, considering you can't drive legally for another 2 years, I'd go for the trip. I've learned that things don't mean as much as experiences when you look back on your life- you'd remember your trip forever- but how often would you think about a car you owned when you were 14? go for the trip!

Sounds like your folks have given you the option of how some money should be spent - take the car option and come back on a long working holiday when you leave high school. 3 weeks isn't nearly long enough for Australia. It's a long way and it's huge!
