I will be in trinidad this summer and spending my final week in tobago, and would like to know what are the best things to do and see. WHat is the nightlife like? What are prices like for alcohol etc, and what else would you recomend doing while im there. Are there any special events, gigs, sports events, etc in July and beginning of August?

Thanks

  1. Everybody know I could plan ah vacation, but I'm offended by you calling my sista isle of "lesser importance."

    TWG is that really you??!!!

  2. Trinidad will have its share of activities - but Tobago is the best place to be in August!  Tobago has its annual Great Race event (Boat Race) its a well attended event, truly you have to organize way in advanced to get flights, hotels, etc

A beer can cost you anywhere from $5.00 to $15.00 - of course its cheaper to buy in a grocery or shop since a bar or club will be pricer - but if yuh liming..............

Tobago prices are slighty higher in some instances.

I recommend the following Itinerary for you:

    1.  Visit Maracas Beach and eat ah food - Bake and Shark is our compettion to Subway.  Maracas has nice views and the water is nice after the drive.   Lower down is Tyrico Bay, Las Cuevas (my favourite), La Fillette and Blanchisseuse

    2.  Sightseeing trips could consists of - Mud Volcanoes, Bird Sanctuaries (Wild Fowl, Trust, Asa Wright, etc) The Magnificant 7 (ancient buildings around the worlds biggest round-about The Queens Park Savannah)  We have various waterfalls and beaches around the island to check out as well.

    3.  Some clubs, resturants and  bars to consider - Blue Tantra, 51%, Tony Romas, Jennys, TGI Fridays, (POSSE help meh out here)

I have to go - but I am sure the Members here will give you great info and guidelines!

  3. Best things to do, depends on what you're into. there's Maracas, Toco, Manzanilla, Paria etc for beaches. some are a mere drive away others (like Paria) require a hike...but it's worth it.

Tourist-type things: there's the museum if you're into that, Devil's Woodyard, Asa Wright Nature Centre, Wild Fowl Trust etc if you want to be outdoors.

Then there's the night life: Ariapita Avenue has lots of restaurants/bars to choose from. There's St. James for a different flavour of the lime. Then there's Movie Towne where you get a cinaplex, casual dining restaurants/bars all in one place.

Carnival Band launchings begin in July in case you would be interested in that type of thing. July 4th to be precise, and almost one per week from then till sometime in August.

p/s:- check out www.visittnt.com/ or www.tdc.co.tt/ for more details. Another site to check out is www.triniscene.com for parties/night-life information.

    Have fun.
