  1. start with the california roll, even my 9 year old loves them.

  2. I started with California rolls, then I tried Rainbow Rolls (Cali Rolls with raw fish), then I moved onto real sushi. When you get to love sushi, I suggest you try a Chirashi Bowl! My favorite thing in the world!!!

  3. california roll is definitely the best starter sushi.  it's simple and delicious.  it has cooked crab meat, cucumber, and avocado inside.  it is wrapped in seaweed (as is most sushi)

    and covered in rice.

  4. Well it depends. The first time I had sushi I went with a  Japanese exchange student and she had me eat the nigiri (big slab of raw fish on top of rice) first. It helps a lot when you have someone who knows better telling you what's good. It depends on whether or not you would rather try Japanese style sushi or American style rolls. I would recommend first finding a good sushi place. Crappy sushi can ruin anyone's first impression. Try a specialty roll. For example, I had something called a Lilly roll and a Kokopelli roll which were quite good. I really don't like to eat rolls so I can't say which you should start with but if you are iffy about raw fish I would say you should try eating eel nigiri sushi. It is very rich and can get nauseating if you eat too much of it but otherwise I think it is a good one to try. Some of the most skeptical people will always enjoy it. Another good beginner's sushi is the fire blasted salmon nigiri sushi. They just take a thing that shoots out flames to quickly cook the outer layer and release some of the natural oils. Quite tasty. You can have some Japanese omelet nigiri sushi or the cooked shrimp ones. Some places have some awesome shrimp sushi with mayo, scallops and hot sauce. Oh, and don't forget to try the quail egg shooters. I would eat those all day!

  5. Start with maki type sushi.  These will be the nori wrapped rolls, california, philadelphia, and alaskan will all be safe, conservative choices until you have the courage to explore

Have an open mind and you will find this is an amazing food.

  6. I think you should try anything that isn't raw first, then after if you should try the raw stuff.

  7. It's an expensive habit that's hard to quit!!!!  j/k

I would steer clear of anything raw at first.  More than the taste I think most people are a little afraid of eating raw fish.  But, once you chow down a couple Cali Rolls, try the Spicy Tuna.  Also, bbq Eel is amazingly good.  It taste like fish bbq'd w/ teriyaki sauce.

  8. def california, its awesome youll love it.
