  1. Cancun is a wonderful place, and depending on how active you are, and how hot the temps are, you should definitely consider going on a day trip or two. The number of trips depends also on how long you are planning on being there for. I recommend no more than 2 tours to those who are spending only a week in Cancun, perhaps 3-4 if going for more than a week.

That being said, most people will point you toward the Chichen Itza tour, and that's because it is the most spectacular Mayan ruin site in the Yucatan Peninsula. The ruins of Chichen Itza are located about 2 1/2 hours inland by bus, so it can be quite hot around the archeological zone. If you're not sure how much you really want to take an entire day to see Mayan ruins, but you still are torn, I recommend visiting the ruin site of Tulum instead. These ruins are the only Mayan ruins located on the ocean, overlooking the Caribbean from cliffs. Therefore, due to its location, it is a cooler site to see, but much smaller than Chichen Itza. When taking this tour, you will have the option of coupling it with an eco park. I highly recommend going to Xel-Ha and going on the All Inclusive meal plan. This is because you will have a more relaxing day, not worrying about food and drink prices, and you will be in a smaller park. The other eco park is Xcaret (pronounced Ish-Caret) and this park is quite large and does not offer an AI meal plan. Other tours I recommend you investigate include a swim with dolphins, Mayan Zipline over the jungle and the ever popular Snorkeling Adventure Tour. You can check out a really nice description of these and other tours at:

You should certainly pick up a Cancun travel guide that is current and up to date on information about the area and tours. I also recommend you consider getting the Entertainment Plus Discount Card. The card offers tour discounts and 2x1 meals at some very good restaurants in Cancun. Finally, you should plan on visiting Isla Mujeres on your own self guided day trip. There's really no need to take a tour to this island, so save your money, do a little research and go it yourself.

    Have fun planning your trip,

  2. Xcaret is my favorite. We also did a cenote tour that was great too.

  3. Definately the Swim with Dolphins, this is fantastic especially if you go to Dolphin Discovery on Isla Mujeres, as you have a 40 minute boat ride there and back with open bar and entertainment.

The Captain Hook Pirate ships are another fun thing to try.

A Jungle tour through the mangroves, with snorkelling over the Coral reefs.

If you´re into diving, then Call Ben Mooney at http://www.mayanaquadive.com as he knows some great dive sites.

Xcaret is a wonderful day out, as you get to enjoy an ecopark, with dolphins, turtles ect and then get to watch probably the best show in the whole of Mexico at night.

A catamaran trip with http://www.cancuncatamarans.com is a must, a day sailing and snorkeling, with buffet lunch on Isla Mujeres, open bar, a shopping trip and the chance to have your picture taken holding a live shark.

At night, try the Cancun Party Hopper, there are now 2 different versions going to different bars, and they are great fun.

    Hope this helps.

  4. Cancun is beautiful! Go take a trip to Xel-Ha its a little over an hour away but worth it. Take a trip to Isla de las Mujeres. If you can with budget and time spend 2 days in Cozumel... the snorkeling and diving is the best there!  Dont forget Tulum and Chichen Itza! Your hotel can provide you with all the information and you can but tour tickets there. Also, dont forget Club Coco Bongo. They have cool shows there!!

  5. There is tons to do there.  Is a very beautiful fun place to travel to.  Most resorts have excursions that you can set up right there at the hotel and I highly recommend you do that rather than going off by yourselves unless you are seasoned travelers.  Considering your age - most likely you are not.  There is snorkeling trips to Cozumel, bullfighting excursions, Mayan Ruins, underwater cave excursions....tons of stuff.  Look for brochures when you get to airport or resort.
