  1. Depo provera, the shot is 99% effective and does not contain estrogen.  However it comes with irregular bleeding, weight gain and a long return to fertility (years if ou use it a long time) if you decide to go for #3.  The Nuvaring is highly effective if used properly, 3 weeks in, 1 week out.  However it does contain estrogen so if you are a smoker, have migraine with aura, etc it is not recommended.  Also its most common side effect is a change in the vaginal pH resulting in recurrent bacterial or yeast infections.  Pills are also highly effective if taken within the same few hours every day.  If you smoke, have migraines, etc they are not recommended.  All estrogen containing products when combined with smoking, migraines with aura pre-dispose you to blood clots and stroke.  Mini-pills are progestin only piils and have a 95% efficacy rate.  People frequently get pregnant on these pills.  Implanon is an implantable device that goes under the skin in the arm.  It is progestin only and 99% effective.  It has fewer side effects and a quick return to fertility. It can be used for up to 3 years and can be inserted 4 weeks post-delivery. Mirena a plastic IUD has the exact stats as the Implanon but lasts up to 5 years.  However if you are NOT in a monogamous relationship there is a higher risk of pelvic inflammatory disease with IUDs.  The Mirena IUD or a copper IUD would then be contraindicated.  It also is not available to be inserted until you are 6 weeks post-delivery.  I like the Implanon.  There is no string to check (like an IUD), no ring to remove monthly, no nasty stuff to remove after s*x (like a diaphragm) and no pill to remember every day.  It is what I am going to use in 8 weeks!  If you are married then I'd say IUD or Implanon are your top 2 choices???  Talk to your OB....

  2. Yaz is terrible, do not do Yaz.

Marian kills the concepted seed (once the spirm and egg have met and joined) befor they can implant. Can you live with that??? I cant

  3. I really liked Ortho Tricyclin Lo (with a low dose of hormones). I never got pregnant taking those for 4 years. About 4 or 5 months after starting a new cheap sh*t kind of birth control pill, I got pregnant >_< Or one of those little implant sticks that's put into your arm. That sounded like a good one if you're really busy and forget your pills often. Good luck! I hope this helps! :)

  4. Marian then you dont have to worry about anything all you have to do is get it inserted and thats it for five years none of that well i forgot to take my pill and be scared because you think you are prego and really dont think it is the best time to be

good luck oh and congrats on the baby hope everything goes well for you and him or her

  5. i've only tried pills but i got very sick of them so i went ahead an got the mirena IUD. its wonderful just go in for your annual check up and they make you take a test for pregnancy even though you had one. and when you start your cycle again the doctor will tell you to come in and get the IUD. its that simple. probably like a 10 minute process. I love it and dont have to worry about taking a pill every day or changin something. im all good...... hoped i helped

  6. i got preg while on yaz, and i took it exactly as i was told and miscarried at 11 weeks.
