What would you say i sthe best restaurant in venice? god quality, romantic but not over the top prices?

What i did when i went to venice is. dont take a map and just go for it. go through the little side streets and you will certainly come across something interesting that is out of the way and not filled with hundreds of tourists. that is much more romantic than cramming into some tourist restaurant on the rialto bridge.

I found a beautiful little restaurant which was somewhere near the opera house. But i cant tell you where it was because i didnt have a map. the opera is fairly close to the "entrance".

Have fun in Venice. FYI it doesnt actually smell bad at all

Trattoria San Trovaso in the Dorsoduro district. Great house wine (you must try the house wine always) and wonderful gnocchi

Try any restaurant away from St Marks Square even over the other side of the Realto Bridge as far away form it as possible.  Ask one of the shop keepers while you are there they are the best to ask.

Fioran at the Piazza San Marco. I don't know if its the best, but it has excellent ristretto
