What would you say if you heard this story ?

A young single mum of 5 kids (all to different fathers) all under seven who lives on a council estate and claims £250 approx a week in benefits goes away on holiday and leaves her kids alone in an apartment unsupervised while she goes out drinking with a guy she met there

Was one of the "Kids" 18?   Any parent can, I think, take a vacation away from their kids as long as they are left with a babysitter, etc.  One may dissapprove of her for being on the dole, etc, but maybe she's not that much different than a working parent who needs a break.  And goes out on a date on vacation. Or maybe she did it very irresponsibly.  Hard for me to know.

The Mother of the children does strike me as being a very selfish woman . I wonder if the children were from several men?  Her benefits are not being used for the welfare of her children . I think she should be visited by a welfare worker to learn more about the facts as reported.

yeah, the mccanns in single version without the titles and money and with a couple more kids...but not any better or no worse than them

My immediate response is disgust. Firstly, because the taxpayers have to support this woman who obviously has no morals and secondly, because she leaves the children alone. It's not a unique story I'm afraid and I feel people like this need reporting. The government ought to introduce a reward system to encourage us to 'shop' people who fiddle the system.

I would say that (like almost all stories), you can let emotion and prejudice take over, without making effort to know all the facts.

The question was why she left the children alone, and if there was any way she expected them to be safe.

Throw out who the father's were, and what the income source is. All of that is to make her look bad.  She PROBABLY is bad, for leaving the children.. but you have to focus on the relevant facts.

What is sad is that - yes, it does sound familiar, way too many children are neglected in this way, and no one ever finds out!
