AVG was ok until they released V8, then it went backwards. I used it on another machine and eventually ditched it in preference to Avast.  

It also depends upon what sort of protection you want, if you want total protection then use a combination of programs that work well together without causing any conflicts, and only ever use ONE antivirus.

I've had Norton which kept going wrong and wouldn't fix. Then AVG which let loads of viruses through. I've now got Windows ONE CARE which is fantastic - I can't fault it because it's so thorough.

for a laptop i would reccomend sumthing like avg 8 free edition with firewall as it doesnt take to many system resources

for pc i would reccomend avg 8 free edition with zone alarms firewall

kaspersky internet security 2009 none of the three you have stated as an example i personally do not reccomend avg 8 you get what you pay for i never use free programs but a lot of pc users cannot afford to pay for anti virus, one good free anti spyware is spybot  search and destroy with an excellent track record.
