What would you say is the stereotypical image of a Grandmother? ?

I am writing a novel!!! And I'm trying to compose a list of the stereotypical image of three characters

Grandmother

Mother

Child (of 6 almost 7)

And I'm trying to see what the image is. And how I can break this to make stronger characters for my novel. IN my novel the Grandmother is dying. I just want to ask what do you think of when you hear

I have elderly, strict and energy. Can u help??

It depends on the time period of your novel.  Today's grandmother look like moms or 40 y/o and mom's look like school girls or 20 y/o.  But most people see grey hair, stocky built, glasses and oxford shoes.

When I think of grandmother:

1) Getting hair "set" every week at the beauty shop

2) Cooking from scratch

3) Sweatshirts with the names of their grandkids on it

4) Spoiling the grandkids

5) The family mediator of sorts

6) The voice of reason

7) Pie and Coffee

Mother:

This one is a little harder because there are tons of different types...a mother of a 6-7 year old...usually mid 30s (I'm guessing...)

1) Story time at the library

2) Working part-time

3) Slightly frazzled and busy!

4) Oprah

5) Coordinator of social events

6) Appreciates pampering (facial, hair, nails)...but might not get to do it too much

7) Knows Nick Jr. inside and out

Child

1) Wide-eyed

2) Naive

3) Eager to please older children/adults

4) Practicing handwriting

5) Funny

6) Juice box

7) Tennis shoes and jeans with holes in the knees (from playing outside at recess)
