im 13 and i shave "down there". im a virgin and plan on waiting for a while but i shave because it makes me feel cleaner. so...the main reason is for hygiene. my parents dont kno but im not sure what they would say...

Doesn't it hurt and itch when it grows back in? I just don't get it, I never knew how popular it was to shave down thereuntil I came to yahoo answers. As long as you shower everyday, your hair down there shouldn't be a hygiene problem. I don't think your parents will be happy if they find out you are shaving, I know I wouldn't like it.

i do it to feel cleaner too, and i am only 13. but, idk how or why my parents would ever know. they don't ever see me naked...so yeah. but i dont think it is that big of a deal, its not something to worry about, its ok. what u do to ur "down there area" is not ur parents' business. hope i helped!

It's ok, just be really careful when shaving down there. Try to use a new razor with three blades and use plenty of shaving cream and be gentle. If you do nick yourself at all just wash the area with soap and water and keep the area clean while it heals.

I think if you don't shave, it's nasty. At least trim, unless you want a freakin bush down there. Ew.

My mom doesn't care, and my dad has no business knowing what I do down there. Hahaha, no.

My friends mom once asked that and we all said the same thing "it's nasty because then you have a d**n bush, and it looks nasty during bikini season."

Just shave, you don't have to go bare, but get some off.

It's not more hygienic to shave down there, in fact it's less so.

The only reason to do it is because it's currently fashionable and you think it looks better, so that's really the only explanation you can offer. That, and possibly to avoid being teased in the locker room by immature hair-phobes at your school.

If I was your mom, I don't think I'd want you to be doing that.  If your pubic hair is causing problems for you somehow, maybe trim it a little, but shaving makes me think you are imitating p**n stars, planning to start having s*x soon or otherwise trying to be "s**y" by doing this.  Maybe that really isn't the case for you, but I also don't take 13-year-olds on their word, no offense (when I was 13 EVERYONE lied to their parents).

Pubic hairs don't really get dirty that much, especially if you're not having s*x.  Even taking into account the increased hormones as a result of being a teenager, your pubics won't smell as long as you're showering every day or so.  That is probably what I'd say if I was your mom.  I wouldn't be able to stop you from shaving if that's really what you want to do, but I'd make sure you knew it wasn't dirty to have hair "down there," it's just a sign of maturing into a woman, and most normal adults have pubic hair (some people are born unable to grow it naturally though).

Well i know where your coming from, i did it because i was embarrassed when i wore my bathing suit, not a huge deal, but parents always get it in there head that when doing things like that always means s*x, which isn't the case at all

i did it out of curiosity when i was 15. i wanted to see what it felt like to be "bald" again.  i never did it again for years because it itched like crazy.

but the hair "down there" helps keep infection for accruing. trimming it OK but fully shaving it off can increase risk of problems  down there
