What would you think if an acquaintance passed along a compliment to you said by somebody else?

would you like, admire or respect that person more - the one (somebody else) who complimented you on something?

Certainly,  maybe that person was unable to tell you directly for one reason or another. I would prefer a direct comment, but would not hold it against anyone.
