What would you think of Berry Bonds on the Astros?

the astros have shown intrest in him due to Carlos Lee's hand injury it is just the fact if they are in contention for the playoffs, if so Berrys agent said he would like to play otherwise no.

The biggest question would be "Why bother?" The Astros certainly aren't going anywhere this season anyway, they're 12.5 games out I believe, and Bonds certainly isn't going to make that big a difference. Why would you bother with someone with his reputation, not to mention the obvious distractions of the ongoing investigation, just to have him play a couple of months for a non contending club? And he probably wouldn't even be close to ready to play for at least a couple of weeks, if not more like September.

The only possible reason would be if they just want him as a gate attraction. And the down side of having Bonds around even for a short time just isn't worth selling a few extra tickets.

I'd say good for him.  If he can still play then let em.

He was a phenomenal player.  I mean he got walked all those times and still managed to spank the ball.  Several times a year.

Note: I'm not judging him as a person but rather his ability on the field.

Barry Bonds has proven himself to be an arrogant jerk.  If him being canned by the Giants has humbled him then I would be interested in seeing him play again.  

I would still hold a grudge only because the baseball writers have put Bonds on a pedestal.  When McGwire came up for Hall of Fame nomination they made the blanket decision that he was not going to be inducted because he allegedly used steroids.  There has never been evidence outside of the book written Jose Canseco (baseball's biggest headache) that McGwire used any illegal substances.  There has been evidence of Bonds using steroids but writers still contended that Bonds would be inducted on his first ballot.  This hypocrisy is atrocious and it makes me resent Bond's more than his awful attitude.

I guess that the fake fans and bandwagoners are here spewing their jealousy of baseball's HR leader.....  Sad state of affairs when we have to listen people who's opinion does not matter to the teams and players involved in making the decisions of who to sign.....  

What distraction or baggage is he bringing?  None, because his trial for perjury was postponed until March, 2009.

How did he "disgrace" baseball?  He didn't because fans are still flocking to ballparks across No. America and filling seats.

I'm proud to have met Barry Bonds at work (EA Sports) in my neighborhood (San Mateo/Foster City, CA) where he grew up at, in the locker room of Candlestick/PacBell/AT&T Parks as a visitor and when invited to his All Star Game afterparty in downtown SF.  You people that never met him really don't know his true demeanor, which is that of a gentleman.  He's cordial, kind, friendly, will chat with you, shake your hand, sign autographs freely and does not walk around like he's God.  Believe all you want from the media standpoint, but he's nothing like what they portray him to be.

Even though he's slowed down at any position, I believe that he can contribute to any team's success.
