takes your child to the class room and brings the child to the door at the end of the day?? it´s like that in the daycare I work and don´t understand that parents are ok with that, I´d want to talk to the nursery teacher who has been with my child all day, where I work most parents hardly know the teacher...some of them even don´t know her name, can you believe that???

  1. I agree - major red flag. What are they hiding?

  2. I would say IMO that's not a daycare I would send my children.  First and for most your child care facility should have an open door policy.

I understand there are dangers in having such a policy but that's why the director or manager should be near the door at all times to see whose coming in.

My child care facility I work in currently, we have a buzzer that the parents, staff, anyone has to ring and we answer it by phone to let them in.

I have never came across a facility like yours, I'm actually VERY surprised the parents don't seem to mind.  I would like to meet the people caring for my children and see where they are being taught and taken care of.  I would like to verify if the room and staff are taking adequate care and taking the appropriate sanitary precautions.

I live near Detroit and I know I have met many directors and staff of child care facility's through out MI and they all have open door policy's and all parents bring there own children to there rooms.

Interesting I will be sharing this post with my co-workers tomorrow  :)  Never even knew of a facility like yours ;)

    edit-----

I too have a control freak for a office manager, who does think she knows everything but she knows ALOT and is always there for the parents in a pinch!

It could be her I mean know that I know that...  but still thats a BIG no no..  I would think that would break some type of regulation or rule.

  3. I teach Preschool and it is very important that I know my parents. My parents are my direct link to the child's home life. Without these relationships with the parents I would be missing out on a world of information about the children. It isn't wrong for a director to come to the room to observe and give constructive criticism and you should always be prepared for anyone to walk in your room, but if the only person the parents see are the directors then how can they trust the children are in good hands. This would be a place I would not continue to work.

  4. Definitely a control freak.  I worked in a preschool like that.  Sometimes I didn't even know why I was there.  The parents didn't know me and the kids didn't even know my name.  One kid was obviously autistic and she just said he had "behavior problems" and would even stick him outside the back door and lock it or tell us to "just ignore him" when he was completely lost as to what was going on.  I've been afraid to work at a school ever sinse.
