  1. I would say that they have very low self esteem and probably suffered from either physical or emotional abuse in the past or currently

  2. I would think, whatever. Everyone is different and that person may be an introvert and loner. Too bad for them that they have such a negative view of themselves and others.

  3. This is modesty, it's often polite to at least try once or twice to do this, and then accept the compliment.

If someone says you are smart, you don't say "OH, I KNOW I AM!!" you are like "Oh well, you should've seen what I did at the bank... how embarrassing" and they will follow on with "Oh you did so well in the exam" . You then say "Yeah, I was really happy with that. It just shows how important it is to study". Or something like that.

You are meant to push the compliment or it kinda looks like you dont mean it or are half-heartedly trying to win favours. In which case, they wouldnt readily accept it.

  4. Sounds like low self esteem to me.

  5. I'd think that they were embarassed about receiving compliments and had low self esteem.  I used to do it a lot when I received compliments.

  6. They have very low self-esteem and will never believe anything positive comment others make for them. This type of people you described tends to be a bit selfish from what I know

  7. Nothing. If they said something bad about themselves then I would just think they didn't like themselves or had problems.

  8. maybe they know who and what they are and they accept it

  9. The person has very low self esteem. And not use to getting compliments. They feel that they don't deserve them. Only thing you can do is just let it go, unless they are very close to you, then you could suggest they get some help, or find out why their are so down on themselves. Then, try to help them with the problem. Hope this helps, best wishes....
