What would you think of someone who had 13 children of her own?

I would personally think that the person/couple who have 13 children must have the patience of a saint (children and teenagers can sometimes drive you mad), be very wealthy (kids are nowdays expensive) and be very tired and stressed out 24/7.

I would think she is a stronger and more patient woman than I am, because I could not handle that many kids.

My husband is one of 17 so I think that anyone who has a largee family has a whole lot of love to give x

She probably lives or grew up in a small town, is extremely religious with a spouse that practices the same beliefs, married young, and/or grew up in a family similiar.

I personally think it's crazy, but hey, it's not my life to live.

I think they would have to be very exceptional...in many ways! As you said..patience would have to be top of the list, followed by love, understanding, energy, money...oh, I guess the list would be endless. You really have to admire these people

Myself, sorry, but I'm just not really very maternal. I love my son dearly ( he's 28 now!) but we're more like mates now, and its great to go out and about with him. On the other hand, my husband has grandchildren from his previous marriage....and, I'm sorry to say I avoid them like the plague!

well if the same 2 people owned all the children I would think that the guy is lucky and that thy both must be drove nuts, they must have a lot of patience like you said and they must have money coming out of their teeth.

I would not think they are stupid at all ,i would love a big family only i think i wouldnt be able to spend enough time with them all and money of course as my husband is self employed in Ireland if they were unemployed they would get a lot of money from the government but thats not the way we would want it and they would have to be a person who has easy pregancys my husband is from a large family of 11 so i know they are not stupid and are hard working people who were offered conterceptives but just loved having children and they were all very good people and bright like their parents

If she was paying for the children herself and not claiming my tax off the state then whatever she wants to do. If she was claiming everything under the sun, i would want her to be sterilised, so i don';t have to pay for more spongers!

I'd think they are either 1)  good Catholics or Mormons, or 2) totally working the welfare system for their own gain. And yes, a little crazy!

A close friend of mine is a good Catholic. She just had baby #12. They are not wealthy.  With that many kids, they can't all get individual attention so the kids have learned to be fairly independent and to take care of each other. I don't know how the parents are doing it but the kids are turning out really really well. They are all so nice to be around that I can't decide which is my favorite!

All I do is wonder "how do they do it?"  'It' can mean everything you mentioned, and then some.  I always forget, but I recently again saw a show about a couple who has a total of something like 27 kids.  Some are biological, but most are special needs kids they have adopted.  How they get along is nothing short of amazing!

There are reasons where I believe having this many children isn't the most sensible thing to do. But I would have great respect for them - as you said, they must be very patient. I know a woman who has eleven children of her own, even though she is disabled. Her children are 18, 17, 15, 13, 12, 12, 10, 8, 7, 2 and 4 months. I think it requires a heck of a person to be a Mother to that many children and still be sane. They don't have to be rich or wealthy. The Mother of these children I know is far from wealthy and they aren't living off the government's money like some would assume. They just get by the best they can.

Like I said, in some situations I think it can be not the best idea but - each to their own. I'd have a great deal of respect for her, as I do this lady who is blind and has this many children.

I think it would be hard to give each child the attention that they need.  Our next door neighbor has 7 children and it has turned into a train wreck!! The older girls have become the mothers and they are really struggling and acting out.

I would think they are insane and not very bright,stupid people tend to breed more creating more stupid people,im all for individual rights but with dwindling resources and a booming population its stupid an irresponsible.
