What would you think of this business?

I live in Wyoming...We have no best buys, Circuit Cities, or any other electronic stores that will come to our houses and install our electronics for us, instead we have to do it ourselves. Would it be a good idea for me to start a business helping people set up their entertainment systems? it would cost about $10 dollar per hour of work. Would this be a good business?

That sounds like a really great idea.  Do you know everything there is to know about the installation process?  I know we bought a really complicated home theatre system and had to hire someone to set it up for us, I have had no problems in the past but this time... oh boy....

Start off charging $10 per hour.  When you have completed the installation, ask the people if you can use their name and/or phone number for a reference or if they will write a short note of recommendation for your portfolio.  One of the answers here mentions a waiver, that's a great idea too.  Once you have done several installations and have some references to back you up, you can increase your rates bit by bit.

if the electronic is just a plug & play i wont hire people to do it for me, unless the entertainment system take up lot of time to install complicated things & need to read boring maunal guilde, yes it will b workable. You need to consider your on the door transportable charge too.

It sounds like a great business!  however,  I would think you'd want some kind of insurance tho---to protect yourself--from any damages that the customer may say you had done to their systems/home, etc.  I'd make sure you have them sign something when you leave that they were happy with your service.

And if you are a 'woman' and you are going in to someone else's home by yourself I would be very cautious in this day & age.

Yes, I think it's a good idea.

You could get referrals from larger companies that can mention your name as an added customer service ( perhaps cut them in for a flat fee per customer)
