  1. If your going to write a letter to your Mayor or Governor make sure that you choose a topic that is within their jurisdiction.  For example, writing a letter to vent about immigration to your Mayor is useless, thats a Federal issue.  Send something like that to a Congressional representative.

Don't just write a letter for the sake of writing one.  They get a ton of mail.  If you have an issue or concern write them about that.  If you live in a city and are displease by a city service or feel that your section of the community receives a disproportionate amount of these services then by all means write.  Most of these individuals have staff members whose sole purpose is to address these concerns.  You can call ahead and send the letter to your elected official in care of this person.

If your elected is worthwhile you'll get some acknowledgment of your correspondence.  If you want more immediate results you can call and ask to speak with the constituent representative (if it is local.)  If it is state or federal ask for the field office closest to where you live and work with them.

  2. To close our border with mexico and stop all handouts to illegals. Anchor babies, jobs, food stamps, welfare, medicaid, subsidized housing and utilities. Stop that and they'll self deport.
