if your in a hyperbaric Chamber at 3 Ata's With normal Co2 levels @ sea level. (760) What would your PA02 be? ...........................................

  1. well actually it really doesn't load up the Hb with O2. it actually saturates the plasma with oxygen. with HBOT it super loads the plasma up to

    22vol%. in 3ata's you can actually survive without RBC's. i know at 1ata your PAO2 is 1100-1900 with 100% FiO2. in most cases, you wouldn't put someone in HBOT with normal CO2.

    If you check your indications for HBOT, none of them would be anything you want CO2.

    Extreme Hypovolemic shock in a pt (religious) who won't accept blood transfusions

    extreme C0 or Co2 Narcosis

    Diabetes with necrotic extremeties (increases O2 to areas with low perfusion that RBC cant reach but plasma..ie capillaries)

    Air embolism, bends, etc.
