  1. Woah, what an accent that would be

  2. one would be american the other dutch, nothing will change

  3. Gosh, that's a confusing question! Makes no sense. Their status would be married. She'd be Dutch, he's be American.

  4. There is a five year rule for citizenship, but the marriage is an exception to this:

Exemptions to the residence requirement is available if a person is married to or are the registered partner of a Dutch man or woman. If this is the case, the person can submit an application for naturalisation after 3 years of marriage or registered partnership and cohabitation. If the person has cohabited in the Netherlands with a Dutch man or woman (both partners unmarried) for an uninterrupted period of 3 years, an application may also be submitted. Note: this is true (in respect to marriage, partnership or cohabitation) if and only if in the last three years the applicant has continually lived together his/her partner inside the Netherlands. In case of marriage, it does not matter where this happened, i.e. inside and/or outside Dutch territories are both acceptable for married couples. As a rule of thumb, for each passed year, more than 6 months (per year) must have been spent under the same roof with that partner.

  5. He would still be an american citizen.  I dont know if marrying him/her gives him/her dutch citizenship also.

  6. The dutch woman would then be able to apply for an American Visa and eventually American citiznship (if she so wished).  I'm not sure what the rules are in Holland but in most countries when you marry a national it gives you the freedom to stay in that country.  Once you have kids together it is even more so.

The marriage would have no bearing on how long they can stay in Ireland.  The marriage may have to be formalised again in their home countries too.....just to make sure it's all registered correctly.

  7. A married American man with a wife who loves tulips and clogs

  8. The fact that she's been living in Ireland for the past 2 years doesn't make any difference, she's still a Dutch citizen. The American would still be an American citizen. But they both can apply for the spouse's citizenship if they wish.
