What wrong with my CFLs?

I put in clfs in our down stairs lights and now there flickering and making a ringing sound! What is wrong with them! Its driving me crazy!

Try to s***w them in a bit tighter (hold onto the starter at their foundation while doing it, never hold onto the glass itself) or get the contact electrode in the fixture a bit up. But use only a WOODEN or PLASTIC tool for that, for your safety sake!!

If it doesn't help, the light bulbs are probably defective or you are using a switching with 'fading' effect (regulated intensity),which you are not supposed for this kind of light bulbs, then get a normal one or set it on the maximum intensity.

Are they on a dimmer of some sort?  They also don't work very well in touch-sensitive lamps.
