  1. its 12 round for a title fight man!!! ten for a none title fight jeez.......

  2. After Ray Mancini's tragic bout with Duk Koo Kim, the WBC took steps to shorten bouts to 12 rounds.  The WBA and WBO followed in 1988 and the IBF did in 1989.  I feel the organizations made the right decision to protect the boxers health, although I do miss the "championship rounds.

  3. The longer a fight goes, the more fatigue sets in.  There was a distinct fear that many boxers were getting permanent brain damage because of the longer bouts.  It's definitely better for the combatants.  Of course, not unlike our Roman brethren who lived during the BC portion of our Gregorian calender, most people just want to see the boxers fight to the death.

  4. ?? :)

  5. After the fight with Ray "Boom Boom" Mancini and Duk Koo Kim. When Duk Koo Kim died a day after the fight.

  6. No, I don't think it was bad for the sport.  And it very well could've been good for it.

I think 12 rounds is more than enough to determine the night's better boxer and, as someone else has already pointed out, the longer a fight drags on, the more vulnerable the combatants become.
