  1. I know that I heard about it was it last year?

  2. The same year those guys stole my kidneys.

  3. based on the movie "who killed the electric car?" the EV program was scrapped because of extreme pressure from the oil companies and car companies.  once the california air resources board (CARB) withdrew the zero emissions mandate (which said that acertain % of cars had to be 0 emission by year X) it was only a matter of time before the car companies stopped making them.  Would they have done great? ABSOLUTELY! Would they do better than the prius and help the environment more? ABSOLUTELY!  Would i buy one? WITHOUT HESITATION.  im actually waiting and hoping within a few years that they bring something back.  word is that a plug in prius is within 2 years of being mass produced.

The fact is that the EV program died because of the CARB's inability to maintain a great law and to stand up against oil and car companies.  Car companies didnt want to comply because their whole buisness relies on the maintenance and repair of that internal combustion engine, so without one they lose a lot int hat aspect.  Also, the myth that the hydrogen fuel cell is the wave of the future accelerated the EV's demise.

Finally, they blamed the consumer because we didnt buy enough and couldnt comitt to it fully.  Maybe some couldnt but a lot could.  ALso, many didnt even know about the EVs until after they were gone.  I know i would buy one.

It was in the mid to late 90's that the EV program was gone, a blunder that in my opinion should go down in history as one of the worst environmental mistakes of all time
