  1. 1982 for Hawthorn?

    I think well over 1,000

    just google him.

  2. Gary Ablett senior started playing top level Aussies Rules in 1982, with Hawthorn when the competition was still called the VFL.

He kicked 1,030 career goals - 1,021 with Geelong and 9 with Hawthorn.  That places him highest of all time at Geelong, and fourth highest career total in the AFL.

With Hawthorn he only played 6 games on the wing, in that first year, and left the club at the end of the season to return to the country.  He played for his local country club Myrtleford in 1983.

He was then recruited in 1984 by Geelong, where they put him on the forward line and the fireworks that earnt him the nickname of 'God' began!
