  3. And now for the best answer...

The Z/28 was an option code for the '67 Camaro which was the very first year for Camaro. However they had no identifying badges etc. and never called the car a Z/28. It was just an option code you could 'check off' on the ordering sheet when you were ordering a new Camaro.

In '68, Chevy Marketing thought the code had a cool ring to it so they then put actual Z/28 emblems on the car and called the car a Camaro Z/28.

1975 was the only year a Z/28 package was not offered.

The original Z/28 package was designed to be Chevy's entry in the SCCA Trans/Am Racing Series.

Yes, Pontiac named there race package after the whole dang series. '69 was the first year for the Trans/Am name on a Firebird.

  4. 1969, This was a Camaro that was specially equipped for racing in the Trans Am races.

  5. The camaro came out in 1967, but the first z28 wasnt until 1969.

  6. Around 1967, in response to the Mustang Cobra.
