    1983 for front seats

    1989 for back seats (under 14 yr olds)

    1991 for back seats (everyone)

  9. The law states than any car pre 1966 does not have to have seat belts if they were not fitted as standard . But as to when that was enforced I would only be guessing at 1978

  10. 1983 - earlier this year they re-showed the original advert with Jimmy Saville in it, to mark 25 years of Front Seat Belts being made compulsory.

  11. It was 1982, fron seat belts had to be fitted by law in cars from 1972 but you didn't have to wear them until 1982.
