What year was the Water Bomber Aircraft invented and by whom.

In most cases the aircraft being used in a converted military or civilian aircraft. There is a large variety being used such as P2V, P3V, S2, DC6 & 7 and the biggest is the converted DC10. Most helo's used for water drops are also ex-military. There are very few water bombers that were built for that reason. The only one that comes to mind is the Canadian CL44.

Aerial firefighting began right after the Second World War, using converted freighters and bombers left over from the war.  The year would have been around 1946 or 1947.
