  1. Important addendum to the answer already given. The Saskatchewan Rough Riders had already played in, and always lost the Grey Cup, 11-12 times before finally winning over Ottawa in 1966. They used to be called the Regina Rough Riders, the province's major city. Saskatchewan may have the most passionately loyal fan base in all major league sports, especially for a team with only 3 titles in a century of play. Through thick and thin, Riders fans are fanatically supportive of their lone professional team. Their second Grey Cup victory, 43-40 over Hamilton in 1989 was one of the greatest Cups every played. Last minute Riders field goal won the title in the Skydome, today called the Rogers Center.
