Ever since I was a little girl, finding my religion has been really important to me. I'm not really sure why, but it's always been something that has interested me. So I was wondering if you Yahoo! Answerer's could help me a bit :)

I find myself straying away from Christianity/Catholicism because I do not in any way believe in Jesus (as god's son or as a prophet). I believe in reincarnation until we have learned all of life's lessons. I'm not exactly sure if I believe in God/God's, deities, etc, but i DO believe that there is a higher power out there. I'm more into karma and higher states of mind though. I've experimented with Wicca a bit because my sister is Wiccan, but I've run into problems because I don't find it necessary to worship the gods. However, there are things that I LOVE about that religion. For example, I love the fact that they worship the Earth and the elements [5 elements, not 4]. I DONT believe in the book of genesis. I believe that the earth formed scientifically, but said higher power created life. Oh yeah, I'm also not against homosexuality. ha. AND there IS life on other planets.

So yeah, I know that I don't technically have to classify my beliefs as something specific, but I was wondering if there is such a religion that includes the things that I've listed above. Any light you guys can shed would be great. Thanks!

  1. Deism is a religion where you believe in a Creator but do not ascribe to any particular definition of one.

  2. The reason why you are searching is because God has put eternity into mans heart. Deep down inside we know that there is something more then what we see hear and touch everyday.

However God has nothing to do with religion, religion is a result of mans fall in Genesis. You do not understand as well as mot people That God created the heavens for the earth, and the earth was created for man.

The earth is a wonderful and beautiful creation foe mans enjoyment.

All the animals and trees and flowers and even the things in the heavens was created by God for man to enjoy.

Psalm 14:1 says the fool has said in his heart there is no God

You are wrong about reincarnation. As far as other life forms on other planets we do not know, that does not mean that there are not other life forms in the universe, but since God does not tell us about it in the bible, it must not be important for us to know. To know if there is does not bring a person closer to salvation.

AS I said God has nothing to do with religion.

God's purpose for us is found in Genesis 1:26 God said let us make man in our image and let them have dominion ovwer all the earth.

God created man as a vessel to contain Him Romans 9;23 We are vessels of mercy.

Just as glove is made in the image of the hand to contain the hand

we are made in God's image to contain him. Only your hand will fit in the glove perfectly, you could not put your foot in it, The same with man, we are made to contain God, not to contain the things of the world,

man has tried to fill his vessel with the other things such as riches, religion, drugs, sports etc. But they only temporarily filled us.

Only when we take God in as our life, man will be satisfied.

In Genesis 2:9 man was put into the garden, in the garden was the tree of life that represents God's life, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil which represents everything else other then God.

In Genesis 2:17 God commanded man not to eat of the tree of knowledge for in that day thou shall surely die.

But in Genesis 3:1-7 we read the account of how Satan in the guise of a serpent deceived Eve to eat of the tree of knowledge and she gave to Adam to eat. When they ate the fruit of the tree what got into them was the Satanic nature, sin nature, man who was pure and innocent became damaged and corrupt. Man has a spirit, soul, and body 1Thessolonians 5:23 May God preserve you spirit soul and body.

Instead of eating the tree of life so man would take God in that man would have God's life to match God to be His counterpart, Now man by eating of the tree of knowledge took Satan into mans flesh, then went into mans sou(mind emotion will)the parts of our soul. And mans spirit was deadened. Man now is under God's wrath man is in darkness that is why you dont believe in God or Jesus Christ, this is the reason why you even asked your question. You are in darkness as all of mankind is until mans sees God's way of salvation, Which is through His son Jesus Christ.

Satan has deceived you also he does not want people to believe in God, But Satan sure knows there is God, in Isaiah 14 we read how Satan wanted himself to be equal with God. But today you as well as all mankind are in his kingdom of darkness and do not even know it

God does want people to go to the lake of fire that is reserved for Satan and the other angels that rebelled against God  along with Satan. But if you do not take God's way of salvation, which is not a religion, but is to take God's life into you that you may enter the kingdom of God(heaven) Acts 26:18 To open their eyes, to turn them from darkness to light, and from the authority of Satan, to God that they may have forgiveness of sins. You must believe and receive the Lord Jesus as your savior. Everything you say in your question about what you believe or dont believe, means nothing, God's has one way for man to be saved, and it is a gift to man not of any good works but God just wants us to believe that Jesus is His only begotten son, who died on the cross as our substitute, to redeem man back to God, and in Christ resurrection He became the life giving Spirit to come into mans spirit that we may be born anew of God;s life. Only this will transfer us out of the kingdom of Satan into the kingdom of God.

Romans 10:10 For with the heart man believes unto righteousness

and with the mouth confesses unto salvation Romans 10:13For those who call on the name of the Lord will be saved. Amen

  3. I'd suggest Pantheism, it is more about the earth than deities. Buddhism does involve Reincarnation and Karma, but I have always considered Buddhism more of a culture than a religion as there is no supreme being involved.

  4. I agree with Emily. Buddhism is the first one that came to mind. You don't have to believe in a god/ gods (some branches believe, others don't), and reincarnation and karma are part of their teachings.

  5. All religions start the day with a dedication to being the best you can be...prayer...and listening to what can help guide you in that..meditation. A review and preparation for lessons in your sleep come in the evening.

What you might need to read for spiritual insight will come as you ask for it.

Every thought is a prayer and every prayer is answered.

  6. Good luck!

    God love you!

  7. Try Unitarian Universalism.  Your beliefs sound a lot like mine, and that is the 'religion' I profess.  Go to www.uua.org to learn more.

  8. Try Buddhism. It seems a perfect fit for you, except for the earth and elements thing. Buddhism make no mention of that.

  9. Try the beliefnet quiz -- http://www.beliefnet.com/story/76/story_...

That may provide some direction as to where to start looking.

Definitely look into Buddhism and Unitarian Universalism - you might find those interesting for you. You might also find Druidry interesting considering the way you describe your beliefs about the elements and worshiping the earth. Wicca does not worship the earth, we worship our gods. 10. Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.

2 Corinthians 4:4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
