  1. Your dream suggests some real problems with your step dad.

Whether he was (or is) truly physically violent or just hard to get along with, there must be tension there.  Perhaps that is a feeling within you about how he may not stack up to what you expect of a father, or perhaps it relates to outright behavior.

The confrontation you describe is not unusual where step-parents are concerned - there's often some deeply embedded, sometimes repressed, hostility in people where step-parents are concerned and this is a common projection.  He injures you - a repeat of something you've felt from him whether emotionally or physical.  In lashing out as you do you finally retaliate - and gain control.  You silence and disarm him by your dreaming event.  There is something in him that you wish to silence - that is apparent.

What that is may not be so easy to spot.  Perhaps he is overtly maltreating of others - that would be obvious.  Perhaps it is more subtle, even innocent - sometimes step-parents suffer the sad fate of being despised just for who they are, not because of any neglect or real harm done.  Sometimes they are just not very lovable - those are things you would have to sort out by your own experiences with him.

That he passed out on a miniature table for kids implies that he may have been overbearing when you - or others - were small.  In his defeat he lands disabled on this child's table.  Oh the babes - they cannot speak well or act for themselves when bullied.  But what vindication!  Dropping the trophy on the table for them!

You would have to consider the context of all this and decide for yourself, but it is clear that some sort of friction does exist there.  If you find that, perhaps trying to work things out with him consciously will help.  If it is worse - if he is violent or has been - you have little choice: he needs to be dealt with by the authorities before someone is hurt.  Hopefully this latter point is not the case.

    All the best to you.
