  1. All of the answers above mine amaze me. They all imply the US is a Democracy when in fact the US has a Republic form of government. In a democracy majority rules; however, in a republic supreme power resides in a body of citizens entitled to vote and is exercised by elected officers and representatives(Congress and the President)

  2. I think the best thing in a democracy is a good president. If we could just get a prez who understands the needs of ordinary, non-powerful citizens, then everything would be better. That's why im votin for OBAMA!! i really dislike the republicans so hey!

  3. An educated and informed electorate is vital.  Otherwise you have people voting for a president because he is good looking and charismatic or because of his race rather than his stance on important issues.

  4. the primary responsibility of a democractic government is to keep the people SAFE

  5. is your homework task on democracy as a form of government or is it with the mistaken notion that the US is a democracy?

the US is a constitutional republic, which is an entirely different form.

    5.  A central purpose - National Security

  10. I believe whats important is that everyone speaks up, and is given the opportunity to be heard, all ages, not just people who are able to vote.  People who cant vote are effected too.
